I have a European passport and have been living in the UK as a permanent resident for the last 20 years.As my home is here, I wanted to just have a British Passport(not EU), plus I wanted to change my name for practical reasons:My name is latin and very long.I want a shorter name when I get my British Passport. How do I go about doing this? I have been given so many numbers to call, but what nobody can tell me is what do I do first: apply for change of name by deed poll, get a new british passport, apply for residency?
Does anyone know what to do first(and in order.Or know where I can get this info?) and how much all this would cost and how long would it take? Thanks.
