How long do you have to live in California to change your residency status?

I live in WA, but i want to move to Cali and become a resident there so i can get cheaper tuition for college. How long to i have to live there before i can officialy become a California resident?|||i think it%26#039;s within 10 days you have to register your car and i think it%26#039;s 30 days before you become a resident. but you can check with the state of california website for certain. also the dmv website should have some infor as well.
