How do Doctors (MD, DO, DDS, DPM, OD etc.) change their specialties?

I heard that to change from DDS (Dentist), DPM (Podiatrist), OD (Optometrist) you have to go back and attend 2 more years of school then another residency program. I was also informed that there is a school that has an online program for those two years. Does anyone know the name of that school? I have not been able to verify any of the information that I was told so I came here to see if there is anyone that maybe able to help me... Thank you in advance!

Please be cautious if taking this approach; note the skepticism of many of the persons who posted on the thread at the Student Doctor forums. Also, please note that you would still have to pass the USMLEs and get into a US residency, which may be hard to do with an MD from a Caribbean school.

No, I'm pretty sure you have to spend 2 year actually practicing the medicine under supervision by one who is already licensed in that branch.
