How do i do to change my name if i just got married to a citizen, and i am applying for residency?

My wife and I are going through the same process, and Joe is right, you would simply change your name the same way a citizen would do so-at your local courthouse. All you need is a photo, showing your current name, and your marriage certificate. Make sure that you apply for a Tax Identification Number (ITN) from the IRS, assuming you are not eligible for a social security number. Either way, ensure that your SSN or ITN exactly match your name, otherwise the IRS will reject your tax return.

Go to the local Courthouse.

Nothing needs to be done, just change your name, and start using it, if you need to get a new passport just show the passport office your marriage certificate.

No need to go to court.
