My family may want to move to the Caribbean.Do you need to change citizenship? How do you get residency?

We - my partner and 2 children - are considering moving (at some point) to the Caribbean. Would we have to change citizenship? Get dual citizenship? Neither? Can a US citizen purchase property in the Caribbean? I'm sure it depends on which island, it seems they are owned by various governments. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can buy a property :).. you dont have to change your citizenship, you can have the dual one..

The process for this could be long...... could be short :) it depends of the different regulations in each Country, you will have to find a job in the place and ask for a work visa or studend visa... and keep going thru the years ultil you can apply for a residence or citizenship, like in all Countries.

Good Luck.

mostly your answers will kinda depend on the country... but typically they should be the same for all Caricom countries (meaning everything except Cuba, also excluding Puerto Rico and other us territories also in the Caribbean - obliviously these you can go to with no worries)... however, typically US citizens can earn citizenship in the Caribbean easily... and you don't really need it to live and work there (just get a work permit and then become a resident)... and you can buy a home in the Caribbean with no problems... just buy a home and get a mortgage... nothing really to it... but just make sure you look into each countries laws... each country has their own government... but most of them operate the same... and immigration is not very strict.
well you can go in US virgin island

in that way you don't have to deal

with immigration bureaucracy

or learn another language!!
